Google won’t bend over for Viacom
May 1st, 2007 | Web News |I have to say I’m quite pleased that Google won’t be lubing up for Viacom after all.
Having recently replied to Viacoms law suit, it is very clear that Google don’t intend to give up without a fight and have demanded to go to trial in front of a jury.
I’m sure this case will have all interested parties hanging on the edge of their seats as it unfolds. Personally I fancy Google’s chances in this. One of lawyers tackling this on Google’s behalf is Philip Beck who was a member of the firm that fought George Bush’s side of the Florida Vote-Counting case. That’s about as close to Johnnie Cochran as it gets, if not better.
The groundbreaking technology of voip calling has changed the shape of voice communication. The devices used for voip calling are plugged in an existing broadband connection and work with internet phone software. The skype phone provider has already made possible the free calls among the skype subscribers anywhere in the world. The latest voip comparison shows, among the various service providers, vonage to be in lead at all service levels.

mmmm have to say i am ashamed to say this is the first i have heard of this. what is Viacoms motive to sue Google? Is it all money driven or is there some real meaning behind this. I am totally siding with Google hear. i wish them all the best

Firstly, thanks for stopping by Susan. It’s always a pleasure to have TSSG people around here
I’m sure the lawsuit takes a little from column A and a little from column B. Viacom could be on the recieving end of some serious compensation if they are successful. Afterall there is a lot of copyright protected material on Youtube that Viacom owns.
I would imagine that Google would have seen this kind of action coming before they shelled out $1.6 Billion for Youtube and are well prepared to tackle this head on.
In any case, like yourself, I’m shouting for Google in this one.
